Electric fireplaces and logs have become popular due to the simplicity of their installation and convenience. Electric fireplace does not need a chimney and is anywhere fire and the heat can be regulated or turned off. Electric logs eliminate the mess and hassles of firewood. The electric logs give the atmosphere of the crackling fire and warmth of the real fireplace. The electric logs or inserts are cheap compared to gas or electric fireplaces. These electric logs can easily convert a wood fireplace to an electric one. The electric logs can be put on the grate or on the traditional fireplace and plugged to the socket outlet nearby. Though they will not give flames as with wood burning or gas logs, the orange glow in the centre gives them the look of a fire that has burned down. Electric logs come in different styles some look like glowing coals or others resemble wood.

3. Electric coal basket
This is an ornamental metal fire basket suited for small fireplace and provides heat to the room. It is a metal basket with bulb, flickering effect and a heater.

4. Electric fireplace inserts
These are stoves that can be inserted into an existing fireplace. Electric fireplace inserts are more convenient than the traditional wood fireplace.

The electric logs are mainly used to create a faux fireplace effect. They create an ambiance and mood of real fireplace and are portable. The electric fireplace and the electric logs have a flickering flame effect that provides the appeal of a wood-burning fireplace.
